Even its name stays true to this reputation-“floss” and “moor” mean “dew on the heather” and “gentle rolling countryside” in Scottish, respectively. Flossmoor is an aristocrat’s dream.
The median home price in Flossmoor is about $400K. Because of its more rural location, money goes a long way in this housing market. Many homes are large and relatively modern. There are also many traditional brick colonials in this area.

There used to be a railway that ran through this charming village. Today, the Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery sits in its place, offering house-brewed craft beer and pub food. Another cozy spot is the Bistro on Sterling, which is famous for its Saturday brunch fare.
Things to Do
Flossmoor is all about community, and residents have no shortage of fun options for the entire family. Music is especially important here, and much of what makes Flossmoor unique is music-related.
Every year since 1999, Flossmoor has hosted Flossmoor Fest. A variety of bands come to play throughout the weekend. Attendees can take dance lessons, watch a fashion show, or even do arts and crafts. The Center for Performing Arts is another local staple. Take in one of the many exciting, diverse shows put on at this venue. The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra is also in Flossmoor. Here you can take in beautiful classical music shows or even take lessons on your own.
