Flossmoor’s reputation as an affluent community began in the 1920s when it was a mecca for country clubs and impressive golf courses. Even its name stays true to this reputation-“floss” and “moor” mean “dew on the heather” and “gentle rolling countryside” in Scottish, respectively. Flossmoor is an aristocrat’s dream.

The median home price in Flossmoor is about $400K. Because of its more rural location, money goes a long way in this housing market. Many homes are large and relatively modern. There are also many traditional brick colonials in this area.
